His MBRACE collection for DEDON is winner of the Iconic Awards’s prestigious ‘Best of Best’ distinction. Back in 1990, DEDON revolutionized outdoor furniture with a truly original concept: high-end designs woven in an innovative new fiber of our own creation. Almost three decades later, we’re still the only outdoor manufacturer to design, develop and produce both its own furniture and the luxurious, long-lasting fiber with which it’s woven. Owning our own production allows DEDON to achieve a level of quality, innovation and design that’s beyond compare. Case in point? Our award-winning MBRACE collection by Sebastian Herkner. Before he ever set pen to paper, Sebastian took a tour of DEDON’s fiber production facilities in Northern Germany. First, we showed him the light-filled extrusion hall, where seven fully-automated machines are busily churning out some 55,000km of DEDON Fiber per year. Then we took him to the lab next door, where our specialists research, develop and test new fiber designs, color blends, extrusion methods and more. Our fiber team’s expertise, when coupled with a designer’s creativity, results in unique fiber solutions that reflect the soul of a collection. With MBRACE, this is apparent both in the collection’s open, mesh-like triaxial weave and in its alluring coloration. Working in close collaboration with colorist Giulio Ridolfo, Sebastian and DEDON developed fresh new colors ways – Pepper, Spice, Atlantic and Arabica, with more to come – that are nuanced yet distinctive.
